trained in all phases of disaster response and water
damage in Fair Oaks is no exception. Water damage can
arise from the impact of water dousing a fire, broken
pipes, malfunctioning appliances, storms or sewage backups.
At PuroClean we utilize the ANSI/IICRC S500 and S520
Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water
Damage Restoration to guide our work practices and procedures.
Flood waters and raw sewage contain bacteria, blood
born pathogens and other organisms which are extremely
hazardous to human health. These can be transmitted
by touching contaminated items or by tracking them in
uncontaminated areas on shoes. Seniors, children, and
pets are especially vulnerable. Porous materials such
as carpeting and drywamust removed after direct contact
with contaminated water. Failure to do so will present
serious long term heath risks. During a flood clean-up
the air quality in your home or office may appear to
be the least of your problems, however, it should be
addressed. PuroClean Home Rescue uses the latest air
scrubbing and disinfection technologies.
Qualified cleaning technicians use the latest technologies
and equipment to properly diagnose and eradicate odors
from surfaces. Through immediate and thorough cleaning
combined with the use of our state-of-the-art equipment,
we can remove bacteria, organic compounds and/or chemical
compounds, which are often the source of the odour.

If
it's wet, we can dry it!
We specialize in Water Extraction, Structural Drying,
and Contents Drying. Contact
PuroClean Home Rescue now, and we can help
you start the process of restoring your property before
the water damage worsens.
Wood floors are very sensitive, so proper drying is
critical, they naturally hold wate up to 10% depending
on the type of floor. Wood floors can absorb another
5% to 10% without showing any noticeable effects. Within
a few days, however, the floor cannot hold the water
any more and it will expand, causing cupping or crowning,
which is very difficult to restore. Emergency response
is critical for any damage to wood floors
Water

books and papers.

water from flooring.
Reduce the humidity levels within affected area with
dehumidifiers.
Circulate the dehumidified air and accelerate drying
process with fans strategically placed throughout area.
Ceiling tiles
Discard and replace - once wet they loose all structural
integrity.
Cellulose insulation
Cheaper to discard and replace due to hygroscopic
nature.

and/or heaters.
Fiberglass insulation

tile, vinyl)

Ventilate the wall cavity, if possible.
PuroClean uses injected dehumidified air to dry wall
cavities and can successfully dry insulation at the
same time.
Window drapes
Follow laundering or cleaning instructions recommended
by the manufacturer.
Wood surfaces
Remove moisture immediately and use dehumidifiers,
gentle heat, and fans for drying. (Use caution when
applying heat to hardwood floors.)
PuroClean uses hardwood floor drying mats that draws
the trapped moisture out of the floor.
Treated or finished wood surfaces may be cleaned
with mild detergent and clean water and allowed to
dry.
Wet paneling should be pried away from wall for drying.
If the floor is dry but is still cupped, it may take
a few months to level back out again naturally. Do NOT
sand the floor too soon, otherwise when it does settle
again in a few months you will end up with peaking and
will need to re-sand it.
Please note: These are guidelines for clean water damage.
OSHA required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) if
water source is sewage or otherwise contaminated chemical
or biological pollutants. Contact PuroClean Home Rescue
if you experience any type of water loss, clean or otherwise.
Do not use fans before determining that the water is

Our PuroClean technicians are able to contain and mitigate
damage from broken water supply lines, pipe breaks,
slab leaks, toilet overflows, roof leaks and all other
water damage incidents.
Primary damage is the the initial water damage caused
at the time of the loss, and can cause many different
damaging effects from de-lamination, discoloration,
warping, cracking, swelling and splitting of building
materials and contents.
Secondary damage is always much harder to visualize,
because it can cause damage to items that didn't even
get wet. As the moisture changes form from liquid to
vapor, water evaporates and humidity, which is the amount
of vapor in the air, increases causing vapor pressure.
Vapor pressure is what causes this secondary damage
and is the force vapors exert on their surroundings.
Secondary damage causes the extent and cost of the loss
to increase dramaticall with each passing hour as vapor
reforms into condensation to be absorbed into porous
materials, creating damage that could have been prevented
in ceilings, walls, cabinets, artwork, and other contents.
